Birago, of Akan/African origin, means “Gift of God” and is the founder’s middle name, Joyce Donkor. Birago is also the maiden name of her paternal grandmother, whom she greatly admired and drew inspiration from to create her business and carry on her legacy.

Joyce Donkor is an accomplished marketer with over 15 years of experience in brand management, product launch campaigns, marketing strategies and initiatives, and customer and event marketing. Her diverse industry experience has shaped the unique and creative event management and marketing skills she possesses today. Joyce founded Events by Birago and is the event producer of African Fashion Week DC (AFWDC), AfroDisiac DC, A Singles Social Mixer, Fashion Arts & AfroBeats (FAABDC), and more.

Joyce aims to rise to prominence and success through her hard work, commitment, and dedication to her businesses. She is a Ghanaian-American who lives in the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Area.
